This was a two day conference on Asperger’s syndrome, presented by Professor Tony Attwood, world leader in field and renowned author of ‘The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome’. Professor Attwood was joined by his colleague
Dr Michelle Garnett, founder of the Minds and Hearts Asperger’s syndrome and Autism Clinic, Brisbane, Australia.
The conference was held in the superb conference facilities provided at the Oxford University Said Business School, conveniently situated next to Oxford railway station and close to the heart of the traditional city of Oxford and its dreamy spires. With its wonderfully spacious foyer for registration, catering and our bookstall, and its state of the art Nelson Mandela lecture theatre our venue provided the best of settings. Even the sun shone down on us, making lunch and break times in the picturesque courtyard not only a great opportunity for networking but also an absolute pleasure. |
|
Autism Oxford’s regular comperes, Stephen Erangey and James Rawlings shared the honours once again, delighting the audience with their humour and wit whilst delivering the usual ‘must be done’ notices and information about fire exits and so on – well done, both of you! Tony and Michelle performed a brilliantly executed double act, imparting huge amounts of information, invaluable insights and examples of best practice strategies in a very entertaining and charismatic way. Lots of wry humour and the variety of performance style coupled with their obvious empathy and caring made this a conference to remember. |
